Evacuation Plan

Copper mine in the DRC

As a large multinational copper mine operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo, we have a responsibility to our ex pat work force to be able to evacuate them in the case of imminent danger. When a review was carried out by an independent source, our evacuation plan was unfeasible to say the least. We needed a plan that not only worked but would offer our expats the best possible protection. The plan that was devised involved a phased response as well as an immediate action plan to evacuate the entire mine to safety. Various options were given from ESRM and a very in-depth plan was formulated for us to put into practice.
